What you'll see on the result page
A clear list, sorted by severity.
- Each open recall, with the manufacturer description of what the issue is.
- The severity band — safety-critical items flagged first, advisory campaigns below.
- A clear signal if no recalls are currently open for this plate, so you can move on with confidence.
Why recalls matter when the car feels fine
Recalls are issued because a pattern of failures was found across many cars of the same model. An individual car can feel perfectly normal and still be affected. The fix is almost always free and takes the dealer an hour or two — but only if you know to ask for it before you take delivery.
Three ways the check changes how you negotiate
- You can ask the seller to have the recall work completed before the sale, at their dealer, on their time.
- You know what to tell the insurer — some categories affect cover until the work is done.
- You arrive at the viewing informed. The seller does not get to say "this model had no problems".
